Because each pet is unique and their blood supply is different,
achieving blood samples may be easier for some.
Please do not get discouraged if, after lancing, the blood does
not flow quickly to produce a droplet for testing. You need to
wait sufficient amount of time before lancing to ensure that vein
is full of blood. If after one puncture to the vein no blood
arises, simply "unclamp" the illumavein and massage vein until
blood droplet forms from the puncture spot. There should be no
need to repuncture site if the first lance was done properly
using the illumavein.
The illumavein gives you the ability to see the vein which will
allow you to only puncture one time instead of turning your pet
into a pin cushion!
The light of the illumavein will allow you to see bruises that were
caused by previous punctures. Avoid puncturing the bruise as
this will cause discomfort to your companion and you may not
achieve a good blood sample.

TIPS:
- Read instructions thoroughly to ensure proper puncture
before you puncture
- Make sure you are clamping in correct direction of blood flow
- Don't give up! Managing your pet's diabetes and adjusting to
new techniques for home testing takes time and practice
